Responsibilities of a Member
A woman who accepts an invitation to membership in Alpha Sigma Tau has personal responsibilities to:
- maintain a high academic standard;
- contribute to the progress of mankind;
- maintain high personal standards of conduct;
- contribute to the campus and Greek community; and
- fully participate in Sorority activities.
As a member of Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority, I understand that I am to:
- uphold the ideals and standards of the Sorority;
- abide by the Alpha Sigma Tau Constitutions, Bylaws and Standing Rules, the Tau Honor Principle, Policies, Procedures, Manuals and Handbooks; NPC Unanimous Agreements and College Panhellenic Recruitment Regulations; and the Bylaws, Standing Rules, and Policies of this chapter;
- be a fully engaged participant in my College Panhellenic Council;
- learn and strictly adhere to the procedures prescribed in the performance of the Alpha Sigma Tau Rituals and Services;
- vote responsibly in the best interest of the chapter and the Sorority;
- promote a loyal attitude to my sisters, my chapter, and my National Organization;
- work willingly for the good of the Sorority and its members;
- attend all meetings and required activities of the chapter;
- remit all National and local financial obligations as a collegiate and alumnae member;
- promote the health of the chapter by selecting a quality membership that is competitive in size and stature with other sororities on the campus;
- support my chapter sisters in their endeavors;
- fulfill obligations when holding an office;
- refrain from hazing any person;
- refrain from allowing myself to be hazed;
- refrain from abusing alcohol or other controlled substances;
- refrain from using illegal drugs or illegal substances;
- refrain from posting inappropriate materials or photographs on the Internet or in public mediums;
- study Sorority materials and pass the annual member examination;
- sign the housing contract whether living in the house or not and share duties, responsibilities, and tasks required to maintain a clean house and presentable appearance by accepting such assignments; and
- become a contributing alumna upon graduation.
