Regional Leadership Workshops

The Alpha Sigma Tau Regional Leadership Workshop is an educational tool for all chapter members. The National Vice President, Director of Collegiate Chapters, and Director of Fraternity Programs have designed RLW to reach chapters and make a positive difference in the way Alpha Sigma Tau recruits new sisters.

During both the programs and social time, participants will be able to network with members of other chapters. Taus will be able to assist chapters with similar challenges and build solid relationships with chapters who may be of assistance after leaving this event. Take the opportunity to build relationships because this is part of what it means to be part of a national organization.

Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority announces it will once again partner with CAMPUSPEAK for its Regional Leadership Workshop educational series. The 2009-2010 RLWs series will focus on member safety and risk management. CAMPUSPEAK presenters will engage the collegiate membership and advisers using the LADDER of RISK program.

ladder of risk logo“Alpha Sigma Tau’s long-term educational relationship with CAMPUSPEAK has profoundly impacted the values focus of our membership,” said Kristin Walker, Director of Fraternity Programs for the Sorority. “The Recruitment Boot Camp educational series saw the Sorority increase retention by 5% over the fall 2009 semester and maintain its two-year growth rate. We know the LADDER of RISK program will complement our focus on binge drinking prevention, Internet safety, personal safety, and hazing prevention.”

“CAMPUSPEAK is privileged and excited to be working with Alpha Sigma Tau again. Our experience with both Alpha Sigma Tau’s leadership and the exemplary young college women across the country was overwhelmingly positive last year, and we look forward to another great year.  Following the success of Recruitment Boot Camp, we expect LADDER of RISK to deliver a fresh risk management training experience to Alpha Sigma Tau’s membership. The LADDER of RISK program was adapted from Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity's national risk management education in early 2009, and CAMPUSPEAK has been privileged to partner with them as the program has been brought to campuses across the country.  Pi Kappa Phi has been a leader of risk management education, and CAMPUSPEAK is happy to bring the LADDER of RISK program to Alpha Sigma Tau."

Each chapter is asked to send 25% of its membership to the RLW based upon National Organization records from spring 2009. Freshman, sophomores, juniors, and non-graduating seniors are encouraged to attend. Additionally, all advisers are welcomed and encouraged to attend. We are estimating costs to be approximately $15-$20 per member attending. The RLW Program will run from 12pm-4pm.

We are happy to announce Collegians, Alumnae, National Staff - Advisers, National Staff - Non Advisory, and members of the National Council can now register for any of the 7 RLWs by visiting the following link:

https://www.regonline.com/RLW20092010

Alpha Sigma Tau is utilizing the RegOnline system, the same system utilized for our 2009 Officer Academy.

While registering, sisters have the opportunity to pay online using a credit card, or the sister can mail a check to our National Headquarters. If paying by a check, we ask the check be made out to Alpha Sigma Tau. Please indicate on the check the chapter name, as well as designated number of attendees.

Before registering, we ask that you have the following information on hand:

1. If you are driving, please know your car passengers (first, last name).
2. If you are flying, please know your flight number and time of arrival.
3. Have your insurance card and emergency contact phone numbers available.
4. Credit card number, last 3 numbers.

Please keep in mind:
• If your computer crashes/freezes while registering, please contact the 1-800 RegOnline phone number to determine if you are in the system.
• While the emergency contact information and rules of conduct are on the RegOnline registration, you will be asked to complete a hard copy at RLW.
• If you cannot attend RLW (after registering), please re-log into your account and type in your substitute.
• If you/your chapter is paying by check, the check must be mailed prior to attending RLW (2 weeks prior).

In addition, we have had several inquiries on ‘switching’ RLWs. While this seems like a simple task, we ask that you contact ALL of the following individuals to discuss: National Vice President, Director of Fraternity Programs, your EC, your DP, your Chapter Adviser. Please remember that while switching RLWs should be fine, the chapter is still required to send 25% of its members.

While we plan to have building locations up soon, we encourage everyone to visit www.mapquest.com to build your driving trip, as well as visit the campus website you are attending to print out a campus map. RLWs begin at 12noon; with registration beginning at 11:30. Plan to arrive on campus no later than 11:00 am. This will ensure you find a parking spot, unload, and take a bathroom break. RLWs are nice letter attire with jeans/khakis. Please bring a small notebook/binder/pens for note taking.

Thanks so much and please let us know if you have questions by sending an email to our National Vice President, Shelly Marie Redmond at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
