National Council
The National Council is directly responsible for making policies and governing Sorority business. These dedicated volunteers work daily with National Staff, National Foundation members, National Panhellenic Conference Delegates, National Headquarters Staff, Educational Consultants, and the Sorority as a whole.
National President The President directs the activities of the National Headquarters; presides at all Council meetings and National Conventions; supervises the National Officers and the Nominations Coordinator; appoints members of the National Staff and Assistants to the National Staff with the approval of the National Council except as provided for in the Constitutions, Bylaws, and Standing Rules; creates, appoints and dissolves committees with the approval of the National Council; serves as an ex-officio member of all committees except the Nominations Committee; attends NPC meetings and chapter installations when possible; has general supervision of the Sorority's activities subject to the approval of the membership and the National Council; and performs other duties as assigned by the National Council. email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. National Vice President The Vice President supervises the work of the Convention Coordinators and Regional Leadership Workshop (RLW) Coordinator; appoints the Collegiate Chapter Advisory Teams; monitors collegiate chapters on probation; and performs other duties as assigned by the National Council. National Secretary The National Secretary takes attendance at all Council meetings and National Conventions; keeps a complete record of the business discussed and transacted at these meetings; sends notes of courtesy and greetings; tabulates the results of the Chapter Excellence Program; works with the National President, the Director of Collegiate Chapters and the Director of Alumnae to maintain collegiate and alumnae chapter good standing; supervises the Awards Coordinators; and performs other duties as assigned by the National Council. email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. National Treasurer The National Treasurer oversees the preparation of the annual budget; administers the receipt, deposit and disbursement all funds of the Sorority; pays all bills for expenditures within the budget or as authorized by the National Council; administers investment of reserve and set-aside funds as approved by the National Council and Finance Committee; administers the transfer of other designated Alpha Sigma Tau National Sorority funds to the Alpha Sigma Tau National Foundation, Inc. as approved by the National Council; preserves bills and receipts for three years; submits the records for auditing to a certified public accountant at the end of each fiscal year; supervises the Financial Assistant, Financial Coordinator, Housing Coordinator, and the Assistant Chapter Advisers; and performs other duties as assigned by the National Council. Director of Collegiate Chapters The Director of Collegiate Chapters supervises the activities of the collegiate chapters; supervises the Regional Collegiate Coordinators, District Presidents, Chapter Advisers, Chapter Consultants and Traveling Counselor(s) and Resident Counselor(s) when applicable; works with the National Secretary to maintain collegiate chapter good standing; works with the Vice President in monitoring chapter probation; makes visits to collegiate chapters and attends chapter installations, when possible; and performs other duties as assigned by the National Council. email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Director of Alumnae The Director of Alumnae supervises the activities of the alumnae associations and the Emerald Chapter; communicates with alumnae of the Anchor Chapter; supervises the Regional Alumnae Coordinator(s), and Alumnae Expansion Coordinator(s); is responsible for the organization of new alumnae associations; communicates with Liaison Chairmen of the collegiate chapters and alumnae associations; works with the National Secretary to maintain alumnae chapter good standing; and performs other duties as assigned by the National Council. email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Director of Extension The Director of Expansion responds to expansion contacts on college/university campuses, arranges expansion presentations, and organizes new collegiate colonies; supervises the National Colony Adviser(s), Collegiate Expansion Coordinator(s), and Traveling Counselor(s) and Resident Counselor(s) when applicable; directs the installation of the colonies; appoints Area Expansion Representatives; and performs other duties as assigned by the National Council. email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. | Director of Fraternity Programs The Director of Fraternity Programs supervises and coordinates the activities of the following coordinators of the National Staff: Academics, Chaplain, Membership Development, Music, Philanthropy, Pledge, and Membership Recruitment; develop programs to meet the purpose and needs of the collegiate and alumnae chapters; and performs other duties as assigned by the National Council. email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. | Director of Publications The Director of Publications supervises THE ANCHOR Editor, THE CREST Editor, THE ANCHOR Collegiate Editor, THE ANCHOR Alumnae Editor, Historian, Parliamentarian, Publicity Coordinator, and Webmaster; chairs the Constitution Committee; coordinates the content and format of all Sorority publications; prepares the annual Constitution Studies; appoints Chapter CREST Editors; and performs other duties as assigned by the National Council.
